Over-exuberant opening took its toll on this gate over the years, resulting in a dented crease splitting its upper frame. The steel wasn’t broken yet, but it would break soon unless reinforced or repaired.
We heated the dented area by welding torch and coaxed it back into shape. We added small patches of steel to fill in the most hopelessly caved in spots and tested the gate’s aerodynamics after each phase of the operation. Once we painted it over, our work was largely invisible, and the gate was as strong as it used to be. We also made some recommendations to the Alta family on how to prevent this damage from happening again.
